QUME Terminal Keyboard
Cherry MX Black, Double-shot molded keycaps, 1992
Qume was a manufacturer of printers and daisy-wheel-printers in the early 1980s. It was later aquired by WYSE and moved into computer terminal development. This keyboard, being made in 1992 already is a WYSE OEM product, despite WYSE not owning QUME until 1995. Maybe a slight hint at existing business contacts before 95.
The keyboard features the default WYSE branded keycaps, high quality plate mounted construction and Cherry MX Black switches. Unlike all other previous WYSE OEM products, the keyboard uses a new design and is not based on the WYSE PCE-101 molds. Normal sized Ctrl and Alt keys and the much smaller form factor give it a more modern look. Probably one of the smallest full-size keyboards you could find in the early 90s.
I originally planned to use this board with the Aikon controller and convert it to USB. However, the tight construction barely allow for a conversion, since there is almost no empty space in the case to fit any extra parts
